Petition Campaign: End Female Genital Mutilation in African Union member states.

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) has been classified as a violation of the rights of women and girls. In spite of this, the practice still remains prevalent in Africa.

Over 200 million girls and women have been mutilated, and a lot more are subjected to FGM daily in various parts of the world. The practice also violates a person’s right to health, security and physical integrity, the right to be free from torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, and the right to life when the procedure results in death.

It is time to rise, join hands together in speaking up against FGM. Make the change happen by adding your signature to the petition. Make your voice count as we demand for an Africa where young women and girls have rights to their bodies.

The petition is a strong demand for the African Union to accelerate action to End Female Genital Mutilation in Africa.
